Healing relationships is possible. As a Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist, I specialize in supporting people to strengthen their bond in their relationship. Working with couples is a passion of mine that is deeply rewarding for my couples and also for me. I support couples to increase connection and effective communication, while decreasing ineffective escalated conflict. I see this transformation relieve the tension that can build up from the stress of disconnection. Emotionally Focused Therapy is the most effective couples therapy modality with evidence-based research backing it. I have some of the most extensive training in EFT in our County. In some situations I work with individual adults if they are looking to work on a specific relationship.
Life's stressors and other challenges may have created difficulties for you that have compelled you to seek out support. I aim to be a non-judgmental, caring professional to
support each person in the relationship. I guide couples in finding the delicate balance between self-regulation and co-regulation, and aid them in gaining self and relational awareness. I will maintain a non-hierarchical therapeutic relationship with you to ensure that we are co-creating together in your healing processes, while directly intervening in distress patterns that can tear your relationship apart.
I have a process through which I guide couples, and our sessions have focus, intention and objectives while having openness and flexibility to shift and change as needed. I support couples in rebuilding trust and safety with one another and enhancing and deepening their intimate connection. Couples find themselves gaining skills and tools to get along with each other with more ease and can feel a renewed strength and foundation between them.
My practice is based in cultural humility and sensitivity. Systems of oppression do not support people to be whole, integrated human beings with a depth of emotional intelligence. This can make it hard to be aware of power dynamics that play out in couple interactions and in families and communities. I believe that in order to regain balance in the world, we need to learn how to be in relationship with each other differently. We must continue to humanize ourselves with each other and create communities in which vulnerability is seen as a strength and not a weakness.
